Doing Something: My Weekend in the Antelope Valley and the Fight for the Future

This weekend wasn’t just another couple of days off—it was about stepping up, getting active, and doing something for our future. Because when it comes to the upcoming election, it’s more than just winning the top of the ticket. Yes, having a Democratic president in office is critical, but here’s the reality: It won’t be as effective if the other side controls the House of Representatives.

Why?

Because without the House, passing the bills that matter to us—the bills Kamala Harris will push forward—becomes a steep uphill battle.

California is going blue, and that’s fantastic, but we have to ask ourselves:

  • How else can we be effective?
  • How can we ensure that Kamala, as our 47th president,
  • has the support she needs in Congress to actually get things done?

The answer is clear—we need to flip the House.

Right now, we’re just five seats short of having the majority in the House of Representatives. That’s why this weekend, I didn’t just talk about making a difference—I took action. I hopped on the Big Blue Bus with U.S. Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove and headed to the Antelope Valley to support George Whiteside in his run for the CA-27 Congressional seat. This seat is currently held by a Republican who only won by 300 votes last time around. Let that sink in—300 votes.

This race is razor-thin, and every single vote counts. So, as I put my energy into supporting Kamala Harris in becoming the next president, I’m also doubling down to ensure she has a Congress she can work with—a Congress that will back the policies that matter to us.

But this isn’t just about me—it’s about all of us. If we want to see change, if we want to build a future that reflects our values, we have to do something. Whether it’s knocking on doors, making phone calls, or simply talking to your neighbors—every action counts.

This weekend, I did something. Now, it’s your turn. Let’s make this happen.

With love and determination,
